OVERVIEW

This module provides an overview of directing the creative storytelling process to create compelling audience experiences. Participants will explore techniques for engaging audiences, including experiential storytelling and the use of visual and aural media to advance narratives. Emphasis is placed on understanding trends, themes, and audience insights across various platforms. Technologies enabling cross-media and nonlinear storytelling will also be covered.

Participants will learn to define overarching visions guiding storyline development, refine characters to enhance audience appeal, and adapt narratives to address creative and technical challenges. The module fosters collaboration with creative teams to ensure the delivery of impactful outcomes tailored to audience preferences. Additionally, participants will evaluate proposed story changes to optimise audience engagement through suitable mediums.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Age: 18

  • Academic Requirement: Obtain Pass Grade in GCE O-Level subjects including at least B4 for English (or IELTS overall band score 6.5 and above or equivalent) and 2 other subjects or equivalent

  • Applicants are required to submit a written personal statement as part of the course application.

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements may still apply and will be considered based on:

    • At least 1 year working experience in any industry; and/or

    • English language proficiency assessment (written and/or oral) by Singapore Media Academy to determine suitability for the course

  • Applicants may be called for interview at the discretion of Singapore Media Academy.
